I cry because the birds are singing because the red one showed Herself to me thrice in this day. I cry because my sister, my sister is here and the wind is softer when she is near. I cry because I have lost I have lost a sea of love under a sky artists cannot paint. I cry because what grows here keeps me forever a young girl who believes berries ripen free. I cry because you’re not here, not with me forsaken and poisonous I cannot plea. I cry under a sky who holds me tight in a swaddle of tree tops talking about my tomorrow. I cry in a way I never have I never, always wanted to— sanctification is found in my tears.
